The Journey of building our forever home

The Journey of building our forever home

Dream House - Week 18-26

Weeks are just flying by now - house is currently fully plastered and front verandah is almost finished.  In the next few weeks my gorgeous kitchen and all bathroom joinery will be going in, flooring down, tiling, painting etc The renderer should also be starting next week too  -still undecided on the colour though - must make a decision soon

We have also been working with a landscaper for the gardens - aiming for a formal garden at the front

Starting to get super exciting now - our builder has estimated late September we could be in

If you would love to follow our journey I am finding Instagram the easiest way to upload images for the house, decoration,  design etc - come follow me HERE  http://instagram.com/ourhamptonstyleforeverhome

Artwork | Dream House

Last night I came across this gorgeous image from Karen Rosenlund and knew it had to be ours. She has just released a gorgeous range of art prints on her website which you can view here http://www.kararosenlund.com/shop/

I have been searching for years for the perfect piece of art for my hubby and as soon as I saw this I knew it would be a perfect match for our new house. As a photographer myself who always encourages my own clients to order big I took my own advice and ordered this in a 20 x 30 inch print - will be stunning when framed!

It was supposed to be a birthday /housewarning present but I am hopeless at keeping a secret and he wormed it out of me ( I have a terrible poker face!)

House is currently moving along quite nicely  - should be plastered over the next few weeks. I met with our kitchen designer on site this afternoon and he informs me that the kitchen should be fitted in around 4-5 weeks time - so exciting!

Final Kitchen & bathroom Finishes

It is now heading into week 23 of the house build - the house is now in lock up stage and is looking more and more like a house finally. Haven't had a good chance to take any updated images - by the time the builders leave for the day it is completely dark - missing daylight savings that for sure

The veranda to the front still needs to go on plus there are no external doors etc - just temporary ones for now. So many people who visit the house actually think the red bricks are staying - these are just common reds ready for full rendering later in the build

Over the next few months house should be heading into the fixing stage with plastering, cornices, doors, flooring, painting, rendering etc  Still hoping for it all to be completed by October/November this year but things seem to go so slowly

We decided on white shaker style cabinetry, concealed rangehood, marble splashback and a contrasting island bench in a dark timber like below. All bathrooms and laundry will also feature the same white shaker style cabinets and same handles. Can't wait to see it all go in - I am hoping its going to look amazing

Caesarstone Snow for Kitchen and bathroom benchtops

Ice snow for benches in butlers panty and a simlar Laminex colour for laundry

Kitchen tap from Reece

Island bench similar in design but dark timber in colour

Beautiful handles from Mother Pearl & Sons Trading in polished nickel

Pendent lights above island bench
